Breathwork for
radical care
This 75-minute class offers a space to intentionally connect with yourself through the power of your breath. Using a simple, guided breathwork technique, we'll explore what it means to practice radical care—cultivating deep self-compassion to restore our energy, release what no longer serves us, and build a sustainable capacity to show up for our collective.
This practice is a powerful tool for anyone feeling depleted, overwhelmed, or simply curious to deepen their relationship with themselves. It’s an opportunity to come home to your body, nourish your spirit, and experience a profound sense of inner calm.
location:
Journease, 355 N 300 W, Ste. 1, Salt Lake City
what to expect
The class is designed for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Because no two breathwork sessions are the same—even for the same person—we approach each practice with a sense of curiosity. You might experience a range of sensations and emotions, from tingling and deep peace to moments of clarity or even joy.
Welcome & Connection: We'll start with an opportunity to settle in and visit with other participants before the practice begins. This is a great way to feel more comfortable in the space and get to know the community.
Active Breathwork: You'll lie down and be guided through a 40-minute active breathing session. I will be there to hold a safe and supportive space for you the entire time.
Rest & Integration: The active portion is followed by a period of quiet rest, allowing your body and mind to integrate the experience.
Closing: We'll close with a brief circle to share or reflect on the experience.

While a breathwork session is an intuitive practice, having a little extra context can help you prepare.
There is no "right" way to do this. The most important thing is to approach the practice with a sense of curiosity and an open mind. Everyone's experience is unique, and you can't get it wrong. Whether you feel a big emotional release or simply a profound sense of calm, whatever comes up is exactly what needs your attention.
Give yourself permission to feel. Breathwork can be a powerful tool for unlocking held emotions. While some people experience joy, clarity, or neutrality, it's also common to feel sadness, grief, or anger as they are released from the body. You are welcome to laugh, cry, or express whatever arises. This is a safe and non-judgmental space, and all emotions are welcome here.
Your body may have sensations. As you breathe, you might notice physical sensations like tingling, buzzing, or even a temporary muscle contraction in your hands or feet. These are normal and a sign that energy is moving through your body. If they feel uncomfortable, you can gently soften your breath to lessen the intensity. You are always in control of your experience.
Trust the process. For the best experience, try to let go of any expectations or goals. Your breath is your guide. The only thing you need to do is show up, breathe, and trust that your body knows exactly what it needs to release.

Breathwork is a powerful tool that can create deep physiological and emotional shifts. While it is generally safe, it is not recommended for everyone. The intensity of this practice means that certain medical and psychiatric conditions are considered contraindications.
Please consult with your doctor or a medical professional before participating if you have a history of any of the following:
Pregnancy
Epilepsy, a history of seizures, or strokes
Glaucoma or a detached retina
Aneurysms (or a family history of them)
Cardiovascular disease, including angina or a prior heart attack
High blood pressure that is not managed by medication
Severe asthma (if you have asthma, you are welcome to participate with a doctor's approval, provided you bring your inhaler)
Recent major surgery or physical injury
A recent or active diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or another severe psychiatric condition
This is not a comprehensive list, and your health and safety are my top priority. If you have any concerns about your health, please consult your doctor. If you are currently in a psychiatric care or therapy, I recommend speaking with your practitioner to determine if breathwork is a supportive practice for you at this time.
Your well-being is my utmost concern, so please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss any questions you may have.

It's common to experience a wide range of sensations during and after breathwork. These are normal and temporary effects of the practice. Approaching them with curiosity can help you understand what your body is releasing and what it needs to feel whole.
During Practice
As you breathe, you might experience a variety of physical and emotional sensations. These are signs that your nervous system is shifting and that energy is moving through your body.
Physical: Tingling or buzzing in your hands, feet, or face is very common. You might also feel a temporary tightening in your hands or feet. This is simply a natural response to the change in carbon dioxide levels in your body. It will pass.
Emotional: Breathwork can be a powerful release for stored emotions. It’s normal to feel urges to laugh, cry, or express other emotions like anger or sadness. This is a safe space for whatever comes up.
Aftercare
The time after a session is crucial for integration. Be gentle with yourself and give your body and mind space to absorb the experience.
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help your body rebalance.
Rest: Take it easy for the rest of the day. Avoid strenuous exercise and give yourself time to relax.
Listen to your body: Pay attention to what your body needs. Eat nourishing foods and avoid heavy meals, caffeine, or alcohol.
Journal: If you feel called to, write down any thoughts, feelings, or insights that came up during the session. This can help you better understand the experience.
Be patient: You might feel a little tired, emotional, or "spacey" in the hours or days following the practice. This is part of the process. Trust that your body is recalibrating and that the benefits of the session will continue to unfold.

“I’d never engaged in any sort of breath work or gone to a class before, but I was curious. I was a little intimidated, but went in with an open mind. The environment and Naomi’s instruction put me at ease right away. It was a welcoming group and the energy was positive and focused as Naomi taught us a breath work sequence and explained what we may experience physically and emotionally. I found the practice to be calming and I enjoyed the dedicated time to focus on being mindful and simply being in my body. I recommend this experience and Naomi is a sage facilitator.”

"Breathing seems so simple. We need to breathe to survive. But it's time to do more than survive. If you have kids, a partner, work, or are living on this planet, odds are you could use another tool to deal with stress. Breathwork with Naomi is a game changer. Give it a try."
